Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame

I lived in Cleveland the majority of my life and waited till my 30th year to finally check out the Hall of Fame. Priceless relics and the deep history that they were apart of. Highly recommended for anyone with ears...

The Electric Church

Austin, Tx. 2/03/2017

A great memory for not just me for sure. Not to sound like a gushing overly "blessed" young white female tumbler user, but... : These dudes are fukin dope and stupid proud about all the work they're putting in to the Psych, Garage, Surff scene, as well as the DIY and local Community. For those of you that may be unfamiliar with the church and their "faith" based musings of responsible partying, acceptable contraband  use, and production of unbridled gritty rock, I sincerely feel for you as it's apparent that you have yet to live. This honorable group of gentlemen acts as one of Austin, Tx's  pillar's supporting the towns diverse music scene. These lofty headed and red eyed individuals have sought to provide the general public with their own brand of delicious ear lobe shattering brain massaging sound whether it be from themselves, other local acts, or touring bands on their way through. Humbly starting as a series of house shows with a stage fashioned from stolen pallets in the back yard, to organizing entire events within other venues, to, and I'm extremely ecstatic to say, their own full on venue. It's a beautiful thing.

But seriously, all joking aside. If you haven't yet, and live in or visiting the Austin area, please make it a point to check out The Electric Church. Live sets through out the week, dj nights of the vintage vinyl tastes, psych-jam, and movie screenings. And of course no psychedelic journey wouldn't be complete without some bitchin' visuals. How could I leave out Fez! Fez (Federico Moreno), that beautiful son of a bitch, has been in the business of serving up hot steaming piles of excellent sight bulb experiences operating under the name Ether Wave. From Photography, to film, and now analog visuals, Fez is the resident light wizard on the premises.

These images have been the hardest to produce. A ton of extra work is required to massage out the detail in pushed color film to keep the film grain and digital noise(from the scanner) at a minimum. Dark stage and the only light source was the projectors so it was rough freezing action with maintaining detail in the darker areas while trying not to blow out the colorful oil projections. Highly embarrassed to report that out of 1.5 rolls shot these are the only useable images. This seems to be a good example of the limits to color 35mm film (pushed 2 extra stops) in terms of exposure latitude. A small on camera flash to illuminate the darker areas an bump up the low lights a stop would of remedied this short coming, but an intimate setting like this ends up being annoying to other show goers and the artists.

Featured bands: Rotten Mangos, Dry Spell, and Diamond Center.

I was fortunate enough to be in town for some of the preliminary work an prep for the venue in addition to the opening night
