Pretty fortunate to have caught this show. Mr. Elevator(and the brain hotel) a synth/organ pop-psych band with hints of a dark circus and genuine chaos from LA. And the local band, Heaven's Gateway Drugs, who's sound, personally, places them as good contenders in the Desert-Psych ring despite their MidWestern origins. HGD has been a loud voice amongst many artists within the Fort Wayne area helping to carve out their own niche putting Fort Wayne on the psych radar. This show had me really second guessing the amount of radical material to feed our brains with, and assumptions about lands yet to be visited need to be re-thought. There's a small, but modest, pocket of enthusiasm for the psychedelic with some really fresh specimens for the lobes to snack on. A heart warming sentiment sweetened by the fact these sounds and caliber of characters were experienced outside of the well established musical meccas within the United States supporting the notion that the big name cities aren't the end all be all when it comes to the psychedelic genre.
